25,470 candidates have applied for MBBS courses

25,470 candidates have applied for MBBS courses. This year there will be 2,253 seats in the 20 government colleges. Last year 32,000 candidates had applied but this year there is a decrease by 6000.
The medical admission applications for MBBS and BDS courses in the 20 government colleges were issued from 26th May. The sale of medical admission applications in the state came to an end on Monday and the deadline for submitting applications closed on Tuesday.
An official from selection committee said: We have received 25,470 filled in applications so far. We are expecting 500 more applications, which we are yet to receive from the central post office. The selection committee will release the merit list on June 17 and the first phase of counselling will begin on May 20.
