Introduction of toll-free telephone number 1924 for postal complaints

The central government has introduced a new toll-free telephone number; 1924 for the public to make calls on complaints regarding the postal system.

The Minister of State for telecommunications, Manoj Sinha inaugurated this toll-free service yesterday (Monday, 12th September) in Delhi.

While making his address to the gathering, he informed that Prime Minister Modi has insisted that all departments must set up a grievance addressing section and strengthen it.

On this front, the Postal department started the twitter seva on 2nd August to receive complaints regarding the postal system. Now, a new toll-free telephone number 1924 is being introduced for the public to make free calls regarding complaints about the postal system.

In the 1st Phase of introduction, this service will function on all government working days from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM. If the complaint does not relate to any government policy matter, the grievance would be addressed within 24 hours.

Currently, the service operates in 3 languages - Hindi, English, and Malayalam.

The service would commence functioning in all other languages as per the Constitution in a gradual manner.

Currently, the postal department received about 100 twitter complaints every day. 97 percent of the complaints have been addressed.

A coordinating official will be appointed in every regional Post Office to handle the public complaints.
