Jayalalitha calls for candidates for local body elections

Those willing to contest in the local elections on behalf of AIADMK can apply for the same from 16th of September, announces Chief Secretary of the party, Ms. J. Jayalalitha.
There are 12 corporations, 123 municipalities, 529 panchayat, and over 12,527 local governments. The termination of those in position in these bodies is to expire by October month. Hence, the state election commission is making necessary arrangements to conduct local body elections. Accordingly, the election is likely to take place during the second week of October. Similar to the previous election, this time, yet again, it is expected to take place in two phases.
At this juncture, the General Secretary of AIADMK, Jayalalitha has announced that willing individuals can apply to contest in the election on behalf of the party from 16th of this month. The last date for applying is 22nd September. Application for Chennai Corporation will be available at AIADMK headquarters. Likewise, application for the rest of the districts will be located at the respective AIADMK offices.
AIADMK is keen about wining position in corporation, municipalities and other local bodies and the first announcement in this regard is now made.
