According to a new UK study on children using social network versus those who do not use, it is said that social media users are unhappy in their appearance and tend to argue with their parents as compared to non-using counterparts.

The study was conducted at Essex University in the UK. This involved studying over 3500 children of the range 10 to 15. While 53 percent of children who use Facebook for more than three hours at night feel content with their appearance, there were 82 percent of non-users who felt the same.

The study also discovered that comparing boys and girls, the latter tend to use social network for longer period than the former. And girls also argue more with their parents.

While 17 percent of heavy social media users get bullied, there were 11 percent of light users who get bullied. With heavy users, there was 14 percent of truancy rates and the same with average users was 6 percent. Heavy users are twice likely to misbehave in class as well. At the same time, children who boast of being heavy social media users are very dissatisfied with relationships in their lives. They feel less happy with family and friends. 5 percent of them complaint of not receiving enough support from relatives compared to one percent of youngsters who rarely use social media.
