Chettinad University, a University with a promise of excellence held its second Convocation today at its magnificent campus on the out skirts of Chennai. Dr.Mayil Vahanan Natarajan , Vice Chancellor , The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University was the Chief Guest and delivered the convocation address and presented the Rajah Muthiah and Sigapi Awards for proficiency to the students. Five students received the awards. Dr.M.A.M.Ramaswamy , the Chancellor presided over the function and handed over the Degree and Diploma certificates to the graduating students. A total of 39 students graduated this year.
The Students who received the Rajah Muthiah & Sigapi Achi awards for proficiency are Dr.Shanthi.E, PG Diploma in Clinical Embryology , Manisha Soni , M.Sc.Medical Biotechnology , Shakila Banu.A, Msc.Medical Bio Nanotechnology, Kavitha.B, M.Sc.Clinical Research & Experimental Medicine and Palani Kumar.K, Post Basic Diploma in Cardiothoracic Nursing.
Welcoming the guests, Prof. Dr.V.Raji, Vice Chancellor of the University outlined how idyllic the environs and ambience of the University is congenial to learning, and how technology enabled learning to complement conventional methods is optimized at Chettinad University. In addition to NAAC and NABL accreditation, the University has been recognized as Scientific Industrial Research Organization by the Ministry of Science of Technology and granted exemption under section 35 of IT Act by Ministry of Finance, CBDT. The innovative courses have immense potential for futuristic research and scientific applications, she said. Scientific research, especially in medical nano sciences, nano diagnostics and targeted drug delivery, genomic medicine, clinical trials, translational research, etc. by experts in the field supported by a well equipped central research facility has resulted in improved research potential, funded projects and increased research output. Two international Conferences , GENO 2011 on “Current trends in Clinical Genomics & Genomic Medicine” and ICIPM 2011 on “Interventional Pain Management” were held in 2011.With unstinted support and continuous encouragement from our Chancellor and promoters and the right attitude, aptitude and self belief of each one of us at Chettinad, we will indeed astound the world with our performance ,she added.
Chettinad University has been accredited by NAAC in less than 2 years of inception with CGPA of 2.83 on four point scale at B Grade and Laboratories are accredited by NABL. They are in the process of getting our hospital ready for NABH accreditation
