Landline to landline call duration is reduced by one minute in the state-owned BSNL. This is only for calls made within the network and for others, a 20 percent hike in charges is introduced. For each local call, the duration or pulse between BSNL landline numbers is reduced from three to one two minutes, says a BSNL spokesperson.
Furthermore, the charge per Metered Called Unit, MCU for local calls made within the BSNL network is raised from the present rate of Re 1 to Rs 1.20 percent which accounts to 20 percent increase. With this, the rate is now equivalent to per charge unit quoted for calls made from BSNL to other network operators.
This hike in per unit charge and call duration reduction is imposed without making any prior intimation to their subscribers. These changes were observed from the January 2017 bills, he further stated.
