Low-pressure zone formed over the Bay of Bengal - rain in coastal areas expected

A low-pressure zone has formed over the Bay of Bengal and the nearby South Andaman region. The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of rain on 9th and 10th January in Tamil Nadu.

An official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained: the dry weather has been prevailing in Tamil Nadu during the present times. The impact of snowfall is also observed during the evenings and early mornings. A new low-pressure zone has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the nearby South Andaman Region. This has created prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu. So, there are good prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu in the northern coastal districts on 9th January.

There are prospects of heavy rain too in a few places. On this day (9th January) the speed of the shore (ground) wind would be high at 45 km to 55 km per hour. So, the fishermen planning to go to deep sea for fishing must take caution.

On 10th January, there are prospects of rain in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. The ground will blow at high speeds of 35 km to 45 km per hour.

The Chennai Metro City will remain cloudy. There are prospects of rain in a few places in the city
