The central government has decided to extend the period of its plans to sell LED bulbs at a subsidised price of Rs. 50 in rural areas up to 10th May.
The central government’s public sector undertaking, Energy Efficiency Service, sells LED bulbs which require a lesser amount of electrical power at a price of Rs. 70 per piece. The plan to sell LED bulbs at a further subsidised price of Rs. 50 per piece in 1477 villages in Tamil Nadu commenced on 14th April.
Earlier, it had been announced that this scheme would close on 5th May. In this situation, the deadline for the sales of LED bulbs at subsidised prices in Tamil Nadu villages has been extended up to 10th May.
