Recently many aspirants took a written test that was organised by TNPSC, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. The latest news is there were many errors in the question paper and those aspirants who wrote the test were highly concerned. It is said that all the four options given to some of the 2 mark questions were not correct. There were also factual as well as translation errors in the question paper.
Applications to fill 321 vacant Agricultural Engineer or AE (Extension) officer posts were invited by TNPSC and total number of aspirants who applied was 10000. The written test was taken by as many as 6000 aspirants. There were two papers in the test namely agriculture based and general studies. Aspirants who have completed BSc in agriculture were eligible to apply for this post.
A private institute trainer expressed his views. He spoke about how till last year there was no general studies paper. He also highlighted about all the mistakes that appeared in this general studies question paper.
He later threw light on question number 28 that asked about the year in which the first Ryotwari settlement was made. The options given were Madras in 1971, Agra in 1970, Bengal in 1971 and Mumbai in 1969. He spoke about how all these 4 options were incorrect as the correct answer was Madras in 1820. He also cited another example of question number 71 that was about the year in which the public service commission was first set up. The 4 options provided were 1926, 1935, 1947 and 1950 and they were not correct. As per the TNPSC own website it is clear that it was in 1923 the public service commission was first established. He revealed about the lethargic nature of the top officials who inspite working in the same government organisation have set the question paper wrongly. It must be noted that this same question appeared even few years back and at that time the government defended by stating that 1926 was the correct answer.
Some aspirants spoke about how Padma Shree awardee Vijayalakshmi Navaneethakrishnan’s name was printed wrongly in the question paper. There were few translations mistakes like the non-cooperation movement translated as ‘sattamarppu Iyakkam’ etc.
Formed in the year 1929, TNPSC belongs to the government of TN. This TNPSC has been responsible for governing the recruitment of persons into the public service of the state on TN.
