It is now possible to send your application for new water or sewage connection online. And the application status can also be checked online! Thanks to the online facility introduced for 2-storey buildings.
S.P. Velumani, the Municipal Administration and Rural Development Minister has green signaled the online facility for Chennai Metro water headquarters at Chintadripet.
There are over 8.77 lakh beneficiaries for the Chennai Metro water. More than a hundred applications for new sewage/water connection is being received on a daily basis. These are then forwarded to the respective area offices.
So now, it is even simpler – you can apply for new connections online and make payment online and find the application status online too. Upon registering new applications, the needed measures shall be taken for getting permission from the Greater Chennai Corporation.
Speaking at the online launch, Mr. Velumani said sewage/water connection works are completed in more than 12 new areas which is inclusive of Ambattur, Injambakkam, Alandur, Nandambakkam, Porur, and Nolambur. Across over 24 areas, the drinking water supply network is being progressed. This includes Kadapakkam, Puzhal, Pallikaranai, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam, Manali, Kathirvedu, Kottivakkam, etc. So far, about 30,300 new water connections are provided. Close to 2.23 lakh water connections are being processed.
Across 9 localities, the underground drainage projects are finalized. This includes Alandur, Maduravoyal, Valasaravakkam, Madhavaram, etc.
Out of the newly included 42 areas, Ramapuram, Thiruvottiyur, Perungudi and Sholinganallur may soon get the drainage networking done.
Works for sewage network along Mugalivakkam and Nerkundram shall soon be started. Over 24,900 consumers residing at the merged areas will thus get the sewage system. In these areas, the metro water department is eyeing on to provide 1.82 lakh connections, the minister added.
