With the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season in Tamil Nadu on 16th October, there have been widespread rains in most districts.
IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) has informed that a new low-pressure zone has formed over the Southwest-central-west Bay of Bengal area. Due to this, there are prospects of very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.
The already prevailing low-pressure zone over the Arabian Sea has intensified into a depression zone. This may intensify further and transform into a storm and is likely to drift towards Oman.
As the sea in these areas is likely to be turbulent in stormy weather, the fishermen have been cautioned not to venture into the sea for fishing.
