5th and 8th Standard Public Exams - Fees waived for Government school students

A circular has been sent to organise examinations centres within the respective schools to conduct the public examination for the 5th and 8th Standard students.
The Director of the Primary Education Board has sent a circular to all the district Primary Education Officers regarding this.
For the 1st ever time, just like the public examinations being conducted for the 10th, 11th, and 12th Standard students, public examinations are to be conducted this year for the students of 5th and 8th Standard. There was a vehement protest by the parents, teachers and academicians for this proposal.
Meanwhile, it was further announced that the public examination centres for the 5th and 8th Standards would be set up in different schools.
The Directorate of Primary Education insisted to the District Primary Education Officers to set up Public Examination Centres within 1km range for the 5th Standard students and within 3 km range for the 8th Standard students. There were very strong protests for this proposal as well!
Later, the Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for School Education announced that the 5th and 8th Standard need not go to another school to write the the Public Examinations as it will be conducted within the respective schools.
In this scenario, the Director of Primary Education Board has sent a circular to all the District Primary Education Officers. This circular mentions:
‘Public examination centres for the 5th & 8th Standards will be set up in the respective schools. Further, the examination fees fort he 5th and 8th Standard Public Examination is fixed for all the private school students leaving the Government School Students free. The fees for the 5th Standard Public Examination is Rs. 100 and for the 8th Standard, it is Rs. 200. Also, the students studying in private schools under the 35% reservation quota also need not pay this 5th and 8th Public examination Fees.
