In Chennai city, more demand for HCQ, doctors advise people not to self medicate

With the number of Corona affected patients increasing every day in Tamil Nadu and in Chennai, the demand for HCQ or hydroxychloroquine is very high demand now. This HCQ is an anti-malarial drug recommended by ICMR or Indian Council of Medical Research for those with high risk of getting affected by Covid-19 is known.
The effectiveness of this medicine and its side effects when consumed are being questioned by some experts now. This HCQ should be consumed only when recommended by the doctors and this was as per the doctors.
As the threat due to corona virus is increasing more rapidly now, many pharmacies and medical shops are seeing huge demand for HCQ and chloroquine medicines etc. A staff belonging to Apollo pharmacy in Chennai expressed his thoughts and spoke about how without even a prescription from the doctors, people ask for these medicines now. Every day, about 20 to 30 customers visit the shop and ask for HCQ or chloroquine.
Intake of HCQ or chloroquine could result in many issues like heart attack, neuro problems etc. It is important to mention here that when HCQ or chloroquine is consumed then it could lead to QT prolongation and to recharge between beats heart takes longer time. The heart gets affected by this.
It was later revealed by a doctor treating Corona virus affected patient at a government hospital in Chennai that HCQ has been used to treat patients with substantial viral load plus heath care workers who are continuously exposed to Corona virus positive patients.
