As a preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic, lockdown condition has been imposed throughout the country until 3rd May. The State governments have been taking preventive actions depending on the extent of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic in their respective states.
In this situation, it is informed that lockdown condition will be extended until 16th May in Delhi! Similar decision, many other states have also expressed their decision to extend the lockdown.
The states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, and Odisha have supported the extension of lockdown.
The states of Gujarat, Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka have stated that they will follow the central government decision. As regards the state of Telangana, it has already announced an extended date of lockdown.
After the review with the Prime Minister, the state governments of Assam, Kerala, and Bihar have planned to decide on the extension of lockdown.
In this situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a video-conference review meeting fro his residence with the Chief Ministers of the States and Union territories.
Information is gathered that 10 states desired extension of lockdown during this conference. The Chief Ministers of 10 states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Meghalaya have appealed for an extension of lockdown.
Odisha CM has requested an extension of lockdown by a month.
Information is gathered that the Prime Minister has stated that lockdown will continue in the ‘Red Alert’ zones.
It is also gathered that there was an appeal to resume functioning of industries in the unaffected areas. News is out that Prime Minister Modi has responded that relaxation will be made in the less affected areas.
