The counselling for admission to graduate engineering courses offered by the Engineering colleges under Anna University commences today (Saturday, 20th August)!
There are 431 engineering colleges functioning under Anna University throughout Tamil Nadu and there are 48811 seats available.
The counselling for admission to these available seats is scheduled to commence today (Saturday, 20th August) and is set to conclude on 23rd October!
58157 candidates are set to participate in this counselling session.
As per this schedule, the counselling for the special cadre candidates is scheduled from today (20th August) until 24th August.
After this, counselling is scheduled for the common or general cadre candidates on 24th August in 4 phases!
The first day of counselling is for special cadre candidates under the 7.5% quota when the differently-abled candidates, heirs of ex-military personnel, and sports specialists candidates. 121 candidates are participating!
Generally, the counselling for the 7.5% special quota is also conducted in the special cadre counselling session. But, this time, this 7.5 % quota counselling is also scheduled under the common or general cadre
With this concession, the candidates who are students from the government high schools can get the opportunity to attend the 2 different counselling sessions and get more opportunities to select the preferred course/college!
Additional opportunities for students
Apart from this, the system of advance registration payment has been cancelled THIS YEAR!
Once receiving the admission card, the candidates must visit the college and make full payment of fees within 7 days. Otherwise, THE ALLOTTED SEAT WILL GET CANCELLED! However, additional opportunities have been given to the students to make payments this year.
In other words, if a candidate receiving an admission card to one college is confident that there are better prospects for getting admission to a better course, THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS PAYMENT IN THE HELP CENTRE! In case this candidate gets a better choice as per his/her preference, they can get a refund of the above amount paid and pay this to the new college!
Moreover, time had been given until yesterday (Friday, 19th August) to make corrections on the merit list! As per this, officials informed that 12 students who failed to apply under the 7.5% quota HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SECOND OPPORORTUNITY TO APPLY!
