Advance Booking for Pongal Festival travel commences!

The booking for train travel for the important festival of Pongal in 2024 has commenced!
The Pongal festival falls on the 15th of January (Monday) 2024.
With Thiruvalluvar Day and Mattuppongal being celebrated on the 16th of January and `Uzhavar Thirunaal` (Farmers` Day) being celebrated on the 17th of January, there are successive government holidays.
It has been a tradition for centuries for the citizens working away from their native places to travel to their native places with their families to celebrate Pongal. As such, elaborate special transport arrangements are made available. The reservation for this Pongal trip commences 120 days ahead of Pongal!
As such, the booking reservations for travel on the 11th of January (Thursday) have commenced today (Wednesday, 13th September).
The reservation booking for travel on the 12th of January 2024 is set to commence tomorrow (Thursday, 14th September).
For booking reservations for travel on the 13th of January 2024 (Saturday), the reservation is scheduled for the 15th of September.
For reservation booking for travel a day ahead of Pongal on the 14th of January (Sunday), the booking can be done on the 16th of September (Saturday).
ONLINE BOOKING has commenced on the official website of IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) today (Wednesday, 13th September) at 8.00 AM.
Further, the travel planners can make reservation bookings on the reservation counters at various Railway Stations as well!
