The long wait is over now!!

The work of constructing a new bus terminus at Vedanginallur near ICMR in Tiruvallur began in 2023. It has been going on even now. Pont is that residents have urged the municipality to speed up the ongoing construction work of the new bus terminus.

Around 90% of the construction works have been completed and just road works are there. This was according to Tiruvallur Municipality Chairperson P. Udhayamalar Pandian. It was confirmed that the works would be completed soon and the inauguration of the new bus terminus would take place in June.

The bus terminus is currently at Rajaji Salai and it is small. This has been causing huge issues for passengers, buses etc that too in the evening as school students from the nearby places crowd here. There is heavy traffic congestion and the motorists find it difficult.

It was brought out by a resident from Tiruvallur that the construction of a new bus terminus has been going on from 2023 onwards. In the evenings, there is lots of chaos on the road. Bitter fact is that it would take 15minutes for the buses to reach JN Road and Tiruttani through a narrow Panagal Street. He spoke about how the present Thiru Vi Ka bus terminus condition has been bad.

New bus terminus details:

It is believed that the new upcoming bus terminus at Tiruvallur could accommodate as many as 56 buses at a time and it is being constructed on the land of 5 acres. There would be many shops, toilets and parking facilities in the new bus terminus. In other words, there would be 107 shops, 5 toilets and a parking area for 500 two wheelers and 100 cars etc. In addition, a police booth will also be set up inside the bus terminus.

It is worth mentioning here that the duration that was allotted to the builders was 1.5 years only. The new bus terminus was supposed to be completed by December 2024. Reason why the construction got delayed was due to monsoon rains and delay in the construction materials supply.
