The new Chennai International Airport will admit visitors from 1st December to enter inside the airport. Though the airport has been functioning from 7th October, most of the international airlines continued operating at the old airport. The plan for shifting these airlines to operate from the new airport has been completed.
The old airport issued passes for the people who come to receive or send off. This service was stopped from 6th August when the new airport came into operation citing security purposes. Public entry was disallowed in the new international airport as well. Currently only departures are taken up at the new international airport. The public visitors will be allowed to enter the new International Airport from 1st December.
An official from Airport Authority of India informed that the visitors would be charged Rs. 60/- for entering the new International Airport. However, visitors will not be allowed in the old airport.
