The 104 helpline service, commenced by TamilNadu government is getting nearly 1000 calls Per Day, declared by People Welfare department Minister Doctor C. Vijaya Baskar.
During the inauguration of the Cancer Treatment Section function on Friday
in the Cancer Radiation center in Chennai Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, he
mentioned the above statement.
In Government hospitals nearly 20 thousand people is getting treatment for
Cancer yearly. In order to develop the Cancer radiation center, under the
government protection plan, Rs.4 Crores is funded. From this fund, a highly
advanced radiation devices is brought to the government hospitals at the cost
of Rs. 1.5 Crores. The inpatient beds count got increased from 54 to 137. This
count includes 10 beds for older ones and 5 beds for children and the I.C.U
ward with 15 beds for cancer people. This ward was inaugurated by Minister
Vijaya Baskar and his statement is below:
For the Cancer sector, Rs.1.5 Crores valued highly advanced cancer radiation devices was purchased. The 104 free helpline service is over welcomed by the people and it is getting 1000 calls per day. In TamilNadu, there are about 14, 462 camps are conducted for non-contagious diseases. The uterus mouth cancer was mainly concentrated in these camps.
