Tamil Nadu Chief Minister posts women SPs in 9 districts

Barring Chennai, police departments of 31 districts of Tamil Nadu are being controlled by Superintendent of Police. Now the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has appointed woman superintendents in 9 districts.

Apart from this, there are women deputy commissioners in many corporations. Ramya Bharathi who is now posted as Coimbatore superintendent of police is the youngest. She became an IPS officer at the age of 22 years in 2008. Now she is aged 29 years. Earlier she was Tiruvannamalai District Police Superintendent.  
 
Women Police stations were commissioned only  in Tamil Nadu. No other state had these police stations. It was Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa who launched these women police stations. Similarly in her tenure, the women police commando was also commissioned.
