Amma Marriage Halls for the poor people in 11 places

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered the construction of Amma Marriage Halls for the benefit of the poorer sections of the society.
The poor section of the society has to encounter heavy expenses to conduct family functions like marriages in posh marriage halls.
So, the Chief Minister has ordered Amma marriage Halls to be constructed for the benefit of the poor. The marriage halls will have air-conditioned make-up rooms, rooms for the bride and the groom, rooms for the guests, dining hall, kitchen and other facilities.
This order will be executed jointly by Tamil Nadu Housing Board and Housing Cooperative Societies.
The Marriage halls will be built in 11 places - Tondiarpet, Velachery, Ayappakkam, Paruthippattu, Periyar Nagar, and Korattur in Chennai, Anna Nagar in Madurai district, Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district, Salem Corporation in Salem district, Kodungaiyur in Thiruvallur district, and Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 83 Crores.
There will be a facility to make an advance reservation for functions on the internet.
This scheme will facilitate all sections of community to have houses and also the facility to conduct the special functions in their families.
