Chennai city reaches its South West Monsoon quota with excess rains in September

Was not well, hence fell in deep sleep wen rains started yesterday after tracking them till it reached Chennai. Yesterday there was abundant CAPE (3500 j/kg) and perfect convergence of storms coupled with urban heat island did make the storms intense over Chennai.
This is Chennai`s September
Chennai`s September normal rainfall is around 140 mm. But can see we are well into excess zone for the failure of August rains. So as expected by the models, the target was achieved. Normaly in September, the interior parts of Tamil Nadu gets rains. But this September, its been Chennai-Tiruvallur-Kancheepuram belt.
- Nungambakkam - 211.2 mm for September
- Meenambakkam - 172.6 mm for September
- Coming to the the SWM season (June-September) our normal is around 430 mm. But this is also met.
- Nungambakkam - 441.3 mm for SWM season
- Meenambakkam - 436.6 mm for SWM season

Today Weather Interpretation for Chennai - Only light Chance for Rains that too only in some part of the city.
Though there was early sea breeze (refer image) there was not much sunshine. Hence, there is only light chance for Rain in parts of the city. If if some rains happen, it wont be as widespread like the past 2 days and some or many places will miss out in the city. If somethings crops up, i will further update.
