Special counselling for MBBS seats today

91 seats of All India quotas has been returned to Tamil Nadu by the Central Government. Meritorious students have been called for counselling which will be held at the Government Omandurar Medical College from 9am on Monday.
 
Every year, the state surrenders 15 percent of the seats from the state-run medical colleges to the all-India quota. In Tamil Nadu, there are 20 government medical colleges which has 2650 MBBS seats. In this 397 seats (15 percent) were surrendered to All India quota. Similarly Tamil Nadu government runs Kovai  KK Nagar ESI medical college.  From the 100 MBBS seats available here, 30 seats were surrendered to All India quota. 15 BDS seats from 100 BDS seats available in government dental college, Chennai were also surrendered to All India quota. The seats under the All India quota were filled by the candidates who wrote the NEET. The unfilled 91 MBBS seats and 3 BDS seats were returned to the State by the Centre. 
 
Meanwhile the second phase of counselling was over on Saturday. At the end of the counselling, all government MBBS seats and BDS seats were taken. And 64 MBBS and 440 BDS seats remained in self-financing colleges. The counselling for these seats are to be held on 28th September.
