TN to have very minimal rain this year

The chance of pre-monsoon showers is likely to reduce, as experts say that Tamil Nadu has very minimal chances of rain before monsoon.

A meteorologist says there is low pressure starting from Chattisgarh up to south Tamil Nadu and through Rayalseema. This has brought isolated rain showers in the past few days. In the past week, there were mild rain showers in Chennai and there may be dry spells in the following days.

In Chennai, the pre-monsoon season is between March and May. This largely benefits the June to September southwest monsoon rain.

2017 is going to be a warmer year as compared to summer last year. In the following one or two days, the temperature will uptick, in spite of having received isolated rain showers. This will keep the climate dry and humid, according to weather experts.

Tamil Nadu will keep having dry spells until May. The temperature will be higher by 1 to 1.5 degree Celsius. Between March and May, there will be hardly 3.5mm rain showers in Chennai. There is going to be a worse scenario due to extremely high temperature this year.
