The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the southwest monsoon rainy season has started in Tamil Nadu after Kerala.

This year, the southwest monsoon season had started 2 days earlier than expected. This was because of the cyclone Mora which affected Bangladesh.

The centre informed that the southwest monsoon season commenced today (Wednesday, 7th June) in Tamil Nadu.

The centre informed that due to the cyclonic formation in the upper layers of the atmosphere, there are prospects of rain in Tamil Nadu and Pudhcherry in the next 2 days.

Chennai Metro will remain cloudy. There is a cyclonic depression formed over the Bay of Bengal.
