More rains in the Chennai city on Wednesday

After many months of not receiving rains, Chennai city has been receiving rains in the recent times. This has provided huge relief for the residents from the scorching heat. It is said that cloudy skies are likely to be present in Chennai on Wednesday and light to moderate rains is likely to occur in some places in the Chennai city. This was confirmed by the meteorological department.

As mentioned earlier, the suburbs of Chennai received more rains on Tuesday than the core places. Throughout the day, the sky remained cloudy and different parts of Chennai received rains ranging from drizzles to light rains.

It must be taken into account that places like Chengalpet, Sriperumbudur, Mammalapuram and Ponneri received 1 cm rains till 8:30 am. Point to be noted is Nungambakkam received 1.6 mm of rain and Meenambakkam received 5.1 mm of rains. Maximum temperature of 34.5 degree Celsius was present in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded maximum temperature of 34 degree Celsius  

It was mentioned by an official belonging to the meteorological department that the rains were because of the cyclonic circulation lying between south AP and TN coast and would continue for one more day. According to the weather blogger, Mr. Pradeep John, it is clear that monsoon has been weakening in Kerala and convergence was expected in the leeward region.

It is important to note that TN would receive convective rains that had been missing in the last 3 days due to upper air circulation. After the clouds moved in from the sea, Chennai received mild rains in the day on Monday. It is worthy to note that this type of cloud movement is very rare in the month of July. This was as per the private weather bloggers.

Important information is Chennai city usually receives rains because of the convective clouds triggered by the high temperature in the day. As against the expected normal of 140.7 mm, Chennai city received 132.2 mm of rain since 1st of June, deficit of 6%. It is revealed now that the break monsoon in the northern parts of India in the month of August could result in the rains in Chennai.
