Rs. 45 lakh worth equipment distributed to fight mosquito menace

Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy distributed hand sprinklers that will be used to spray larvicide and fogging machines during a function organized by civic bodies on Saturday. The fogging machines can be operated from auto rickshaws.
The equipment has been procured at the cost of Rs. 45 lakhs for a total of 150 hand sprinklers and 15 fogging machines. The larvicide will be sprayed places of water stagnation, storm water drains, water tanks and other water bodies.
Talking about the fogging machines, a ward councilor said, ‘Often our mosquito control operations get delayed due to lack of vehicles. This machine can easily be mounted on the back seat of the auto from where the nozzle will stick out. The operators can then fog the area as they move. Autos are so much easier to rent.’
