TN Government orders promotion 4 IGs and 8 DIGs

The state government of Tamil Nadu has ordered promotion 4 Inspector Generals (IGs) including Madurai Police Commissioner Davidson Devaseervadham as ADGPs - Additional Director Generals of Police.
8 DIGs (Deputy Inspector Generals) including the controversial DIG Kapilkumar are being promoted as IGs (Inspector Generals).
In the Police Department of Tamil Nadu State Government), promotions are announced every year based on the seniority.
However, for promotion of IPS officials, approval has to be given by the central government. Accordingly, a list is prepared by the state government with details ranks and the seniority of the officials to the central government for approval.
In turn, the central government accords approval for those without any offence record.
However, this year, the central government asked for the list of IPS officials qualified for promotion. Accordingly, a list of officials from ASPs to IGs was prepared and sent by the state government.
A review meeting was conducted 2 days ago in this regard of promotion presided by the Secretary of the central government Home Affairs. After this, 43 IPS officials were promoted.
Based on this list, the Tamil Nadu State government has been releasing orders for promotion for officials in different ranks. As per this, 4 Inspector Generals have been promoted as ADGPs. The list comprises of Madurai Police Commissioner Davidson Devaservatham, Sandip Patil in Central Government, Balanagadevi who has been deputed to Telangana State for other duties, Police Welfare Department IG Sehasayee. New Postings will be announced shortly for these officials.
8 DIGs have been promoted as IGs
Thanjavur DIG Lokanathan, North Chennai Joint Commissoiner Kapilkumar Sarkar, Interior Intelligence Department DIG Kannan, Villupuram DIG Santhoshkumar, Kanchipuram DIG Thenmozhi, Coimbatore DIG Karthikeyan, Dindigul DIG Josh Nirmalkumar, and Coast Guard DIG Bhavanesswari are promoted as Inspector General of Police.
7 SPs (Superintendents of Police) have been promoted as Senior Police Superintendents
Saravanan (Cuddalore), Xavier Dhanraj (Central Citizenship), Praveshkumar, Anilkumar, Giri, Prabhakaran, Kayalvizhi, and Chinnasamy. They will be shortly promoted as DIGs. Subsequently, promotions will be issued to other officials as per the list.
