To enhance cooperation and to bolster cruise shipping in India, the Chennai Port Authority has signed MoU or Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday 9th November 2023 with Littoral Cruises Ltd. This has caught the attention now.
It is now said that by February 2024 Littoral Cruises Ltd would begin the operations of 2 big vessels with a maximum capacity of 800 and 1200 passengers each. It would also start the operations of 2 luxury boats (maximum of 22 and 30 passengers each) that would run service separately on the following cruise circuits Chennai-Trincomalee- Colombo-Maldives and Chennai-Vizag-Singapore.
On the east coast of India, Chennai port is one of the most favoured cruise destinations. In 2022-23, Chennai Port registered a patronage of more than 90,000 tourists and in 2023-24 it registered a patronage of 60000 tourists.
For choosing Chennai Port as one of its circuit routes, the chairperson of Chennai Port Authority, Mr. Sunil Paliwal thanked Littoral Cruises Ltd.
