Soon, the day temperature in Chennai would increase by atleast one degree and this was according to IMD. The reason for the increase in the day temperature would be due to the arrival of dry winds from the monsoon active areas of the west coast. In the next 48 hours, the maximum temperature would be around36 degrees Celsius.

As per some weather bloggers, there might be thunderstorms in the Chennai city and in the suburban places during the evening or late evening hours.

For atleast one week, not only in Chennai but also along the entire east coast in TN the temperature would increase

Mr. N. Senthamarai Kannan, director, regional weather forecasting centre, IMD mentioned that the moisture has reduced in the atmosphere in the western region. He added that the moisture is mostly concentrated around the circulation over the North Bay of Bengal. He concluded that there might be some change in the weather by 1st August.

There might be light rains in some places in Chennai and its suburban places in the next 48 hours with maximum temp around 36 degrees Celsius and minimum around 27 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius.  Nungambakkam recorded 34.8 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 34.5 degrees Celsius.

As the north westerlies might converge with sea breeze and trigger conviction, there are possibilities of thunderstorms in Chennai. This was explained by some bloggers. According to Mr. Pradeep John, Chennai weather blogger it was clear that the speed of northwesterlies might reduce resulting in convergence and thunderstorms. He added that it might be just isolated thunderstorms and not widespread.

It is learnt that Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam have recorded 40cm and 43cms of rain respectively since 1st of June. Point is that the rains received by these 2 important places in Chennai are 26cm excess.
