The college students get skill based training under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme of the TN government. This has helped more than 1.48lakhs of students (studying Arts and Sciences and engineering streams) to get placements in many companies in this year.
What is the Naan Mudhalvan scheme?
In March 2022, Naan Mudhalvan scheme was launched by the TN government and it was aimed at creating an inclusive skilled ecosystem by integrating emerging technology skills into curriculum. The scheme has been helping the students to align with the industry opportunities to increase job readiness for the students in the higher educational institutions.
It must be noted that in 2023-24 about 14.68lakhs students across 2085 institutions in TN were registered under the scheme. A total of 148149 students were placed in several companies that included multinational organisations too in the academic year 2023-24. This was mentioned by a senior official from the Higher Education Department.
Information is that out of 148149 students as many as 83195 students were from arts and sciences colleges and the rest 64954 students were from engineering streams. At many locations across TN, the placements were organised for the students. As per an official, the salary for arts and sciences students was between Rs 3lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs per annum and between Rs 4lakhs to Rs 40lakhs per annum for engineering stream students.
Various superb companies (for recruiting arts and sciences students) that made their presence felt at the placement were Reliance Retail, TCS, Wipro, Pegatron etc. Likewise, various companies that took part in recruiting students from engineering streams were Amazon, Morgan Stanley, Qualcomm, Accenture etc.
It was mentioned by an official that in 2024 pooled campus placement drives are being organised and till now as many as 87172 candidates have been selected.
