One of India`s premier educational institutes IIT M or Indian Institute of Technology Madras is now having plans to train about 500 engineering and science students in advanced electronics manufacturing. The aim behind this is to create manpower for the semiconductor industries.
This 11 day programme to impart skills would take place at IITM campus and it would be launched by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation in association with Swayam Plus. It must be taken into note that the students would be empowered with the much needed skills to meet the demands of EMS or electronic manufacturing service industry.

Eligibility:
The engineering as well as science students having electronics background can apply for this training programme at IITM. As per a senior consultant belonging to IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, Kavitha Gopal, there would be 25 students in a batch. The programme would be conducted by IIT-M professors and the candidates would be provided accommodation and hands on training on the campus. Students who are studying any year could apply for this training programme.
Course fee details:
The fees for this programme would be Rs 15000 and the students would have to pay Rs 650 per day for their accommodation and food
Course contents:
It is worthy to note that the course would have PCB assembly, solder paste basics, stencil basics, solder paste printing, an overview of power electronic components, DC to DC power convertors, AC to DC power convertors, DC to AC inverters, PWM basics and embedded system design with STN 32.
It was later mentioned by the chief knowledge officer of IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, Mr. Balamurali Shankar that if the candidates complete their degrees and training successfully then they would get placement in semiconductor industries.
