Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will inaugurate 1,000 "Chief Minister`s Pharmacies" across the state today, offering medicines at significantly lower prices. These pharmacies will provide essential medicines at 50% to 75% lower than market rates, making healthcare more accessible to the public.

This initiative, first announced during the 2024 Independence Day celebrations, aims to revolutionize the healthcare sector. Of the 1,000 pharmacies, 500 will be run by cooperative societies and 500 by private entrepreneurs. The launch event will take place at the Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram, Chennai, with CM Stalin officiating via video conference.
Subsidy & Eligibility:
Individuals with B.Pharm or D.Pharm qualifications can apply to manage these pharmacies. Others can also apply with approval. The government will provide a ₹3 lakh subsidy in two installments, in both cash and medicines, to support pharmacy founders.

Affordable Medicines: The public can purchase generic, Siddha, Ayurvedic, Unani, and surgical medicines at lower prices, including a 20% discount compared to Central Government-run pharmacies.
