The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has proposed new guidelines to curb pollution from construction activities. The draft regulations include penalties ranging from ₹30,000 to ₹5 lakh for violations and mandate corrective actions within 15 days.
Construction violations are classified into high, medium, and low significance. Site inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance, and failure to adhere to norms may result in project suspension.
Key measures include barricading sites, covering structures with protective fabric, using anti-smog guns, and restricting debris disposal on public roads. Builders and the public can submit feedback at swmcleanconstruction@gmail.com within 30 days.
