The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has launched the redevelopment of Chetpet Eco-Park, a 16-acre urban green space, at an estimated cost of ₹20.17 crore. The project is expected to be completed in six months.

- Musical fountains & gallery (250 sq.m)
- Bird-viewing decks
- New entrance with tensile roof (180 sq.m)
- Outdoor gym & play courts
- Boating deck & reflexology pathway
- 753 sq.ft snack bar
- Photo points & children`s play area
- Improved walkways with paver blocks
Infrastructure Upgrades:
- Multi-level parking expansion (1,423 sq.m)
- Renovation of the admin block, aquarium, and watchtower
- New food kiosks and recreation zones
- Eco-friendly porous surfaces for water management
Eco-Park’s Role in Urban Greenery
Originally inaugurated in 2017 after Chetpet Lake’s rejuvenation, the park attracts 20,000 visitors per month. The redevelopment aims to improve recreational amenities while preserving ecological balance, helping mitigate pollution and reduce urban heat buildup.
The project execution is subject to the tendering and contracting process, with CMDA ensuring sustainable and eco-friendly enhancements.
