12 stops for the a/c electric train along Chennai Beach - Tambaram!!

It is known that air-conditioned electric train would be operated along Chennai Beach and Tambaram.  Recommendations have been made to provide 12 stops for these trains.

There were many demands from the passengers regarding air-conditioned electric trains between Chennai Beach and Tambaram. In this situation, the Railway Board or RB ordered the supply of 2 a/c electric trains for the Southern Railways or SR. In early February, the first a/c electric train was manufactured. It was delivered to the Chennai Division of SR in the third week of February.

Information gathered is that this 12 coach a/c train could accommodate as many as 1116 seated passengers, 3798 standing passengers for a total of 4914 passengers. This electric train could travel at a maximum speed of 110kmph. There is no announcement regarding when it would be operated and its fares etc till now.

In this scenario, a recommendation regarding timing and stops for this train has come out from the Railway transport division. It has been mentioned that the train would leave Tambaram workshop at 5:45am and would reach Chennai Beach at 6:45am.

The train would depart from Chennai Beach at 7am, 3:45pm and 7:35 pm and would reach Tambaram at 7:48am, 4:20pm and 8:30pm. It would reach Chengalpet at 8:35am in the morning and at 5:45pm in the evening.

From Chengalpet, the train would start at 9am in the morning and at 5:45 pm in the evening and would reach Tambaram at 9:38am in the morning and at 6:23pm in the evening. it would reach Chennai Beach at 10:30am in the morning and 7:15pm in the evening.

Point to be noted is that while travelling along the suburban routes the train would halt at all the stations between Beach and Tambaram. The train would be operated on the suburban route when departing from Tambaram to Chennai Beach in the early morning and from Chennai Beach to Tambaram in the night.

It is learnt that while travelling along the main route the train would stop in 12 stations such as Kottai or Fort, Park or Poonga, Egmore, Mambalam, Guindy, St Thomas Mount or Parangimalai, Tambaram, Perungalathur, Guduvancheri, Potheri, Singaperumal Koil and Paranur. This train service would be available from Monday to Saturday. This was according to the recommendations released by Railways
