The Federation of Tamil Nadu Merchants and Manufacturers Association (FTMMA), representing 48 associations and 18,000 members across Chennai, recently had a productive meeting with the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner.

During the meeting, FTMMA President Mr. Vinod Nair shared concerns regarding trade licenses and the financial difficulties faced by small traders post-COVID. The Commissioner patiently listened, reviewed key points, and promptly provided solutions.

One of the major issues discussed was the requirement for traders to pay trade license fees three years in advance, which posed significant financial strain. Acknowledging these concerns, the government has now introduced flexibility in the trade license renewal period. Traders can now choose to renew their licenses for one, two, or three years based on their convenience.

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Vinod Nair thanked the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner and the Tamil Nadu government for their swift action and commitment to supporting the business community.
