GCC Allocates ₹39.30 Crore for Parks and Playfields in 2025-26

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has earmarked ₹39.30 crore for parks and playfields in the 2025-26 financial year, a reduction from ₹50.18 crore allocated for 2024-25.
As part of the initiative, ₹3 crore will be spent on play-area equipment and special play areas for children in 10 parks across various city zones. Additionally, ₹2 crore has been allocated to set up reading zones with shelters and chairs in 70 parks.
The selected parks for play-area upgrades include MMDA Park (Manali), KKR Nagar Park (Madhavaram), Anna Park (Royapuram), Murasoli Maran Park (Thiru Vi Ka Nagar), Dr. Natesan Park (Kodambakkam), and others.
This move aims to enhance recreational spaces and promote inclusivity for children in Chennai.
