India has become the capital for diabetics. Over 6.24 crore individuals are found diabetic and 7.72 crore people are in the initial stages of the disease. Clearly, the only reason behind such a scenario is poor food habit and change in economic condition of the people.

In this modernized world, the food habits of individuals are greatly affected. People consume more of carbohydrate and fat rich food items and are eventually forgetting the nutritional values of what we eat.

Grains play a major role in contributing to nutrition that humans certainly require. As Indians, we consume more of rice and this has become our primitive food intake.

Owing to this reason, Chennai Mohan’s Diabetic centre has discovered a new type of rice which is rich in fiber content. The company, together with agricultural scientists, is now into the manufacture of this type of rice.

Speaking to Dr. Mohan of this diabetic centre, he says all nutritional value of rice is gone just because of extensive polishing and processing of rice. Rice that we currently intake contain about 60 to 70 calories and two-third of actual requirement of carbohydrate for our body. However, it fails to impart necessary fiber content to us. As it gets digested in our body, it gets mixed up with blood as sugar content.

As per our analysis, it is found that rice is the primitive reason for increasing number of type-2 diabetes in India. Our country stands second in the world in the total population of diabetic patients. The only reason behind this is polished rice. Aiming to bring a solution to this, we’ve now identified a rice that is rich in fiber content.
