Fitness is regarded very highly these days and we do many exercises to keep ourselves fit and healthy. Muscle cramps could occur in us after we complete our strenuous workouts. These cramps in us could be for just few seconds or could be for longer time periods also. It is said that a muscle cramp is involuntary or forcibly contacted muscle that doesn’t relax and both adults as well as children could get muscle cramp. It is in the calf muscles we feel the muscle cramps mostly. The amazing point is the muscle cramps could occur even at night time or during rest etc. This muscle cramping in us could be eased or managed by intake of certain foods. In this aspect intake of potassium and protein foods are very important.

By consuming these foods muscle cramps could be managed in us.

Intake of water:

Most of us do not drink enough water. It is essential that we must drink lots of water to avoid getting muscle cramps. Keeping our body hydrated is important as dehydration could also cause muscle cramps.

Intake of banana:

By breaking down carbohydrates and in building muscle, banana rich in potassium does magnificently. For proper functioning of muscles plus our nervous system, potassium is very essential for us. Muscle cramps get controlled by intake of bananas that also has got rich amounts of magnesium and calcium.

Intake of sweet potatoes:

Sweet potatoes have got 6 times more calcium than a banana and intake of sweet potato having magnesium, calcium and potassium is superb. The water content in the sweet potatoes keeps our body hydrated.

Intake of legumes:

This is also an important food that must be taken for managing muscle cramps in us. Legumes like beans, lentils, black beans and chickpeas having fibre content, proteins and magnesium etc in them could even ease muscle cramps in women during menstruation.
