A study conducted by researchers at the University of Chicago says that meditation and the practise of ballet dancing most likely improves wisdom. The research showed that those who practiced meditation, vipasana and mindfulness had more wisdom that those who did not. It also showed that meditation acts as a stress buster and pain reliever while reducing anxiety. The study was published in the journal PLOS ONE.
Speaking about this, one of the researchers said, The link between ballet and wisdom is mysterious to us and something that we’re already investigating further. Participants who practised ballet had the lowest levels of wisdom. Nevertheless, the more they practised ballet, the higher they scored on measures of psychological traits that are associated with wisdom.
A leading wisdom researcher reacted to the study saying, That meditation is associated with wisdom is good to confirm, but the finding that the practice of ballet is associated with increased wisdom is fascinating.
