The normal functioning of the kidneys is very essential playing its part of removing all toxic material and waste from the body. Apart from this, the kidneys also undertake the important function of purifying the blood.

It is vital to drink sufficient quantity of water to facilitate full healthy functioning of the kidneys.

Please note that it is important to take extra care in proper maintenance of the kidneys as most of the rejections and waste in the body are removed by the functioning of the kidneys. Otherwise, toxic material is likely to get deposited in the kidneys leading to infectious diseases. Thus, the kidneys may be rendered to a non-performing condition affecting the entire body functioning.

Let us know some of the food items which help the safety and functioning of the kidneys.

  • Most of us in the world require a fresh hot cup of tea in the mornings after washing our teeth to get the laziness out and bring the freshness in! Most of us also consider that tea is a good remedy to cure headaches as well! The most notable point, however, is that tea helps cleanses the kidneys as well! Taking a daily cup of tea will indeed help improve the healthy functioning of the kids. It is even better to make tea from the leaves of mint or the green variety known as ‘kuppaimeni’ in Tamil.
  • Regular intake of cherry fruits will strengthen the kidneys. By taking cherries and cranberries regularly for 2 weeks, one can observe that the infection in the kidney tract starts getting removed. The cherries may be taken even in the dried form or prepared as a salad. The cherries are rich in antioxidants which help prevent any external diseases.
  • Citrus fruits such as lemon, orange, and melon are rich in citric acid. Drinking the juices of these fruits helps remove all the toxic contents accumulated in the kidneys. So, it is better to take any of the above fruit juices on a daily basis! However, remember to note that you have to drink these juices without salt or sugar!
  • Greens are also vitally helpful in kidney strengthening and functioning. So, it is a ‘must’ to include greens as food items regularly in the diet. As the greens are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals will improve the health and functioning of the kidneys. However, here is a note of caution - please note that excessive intake of greens may lead to stone formation in the kidneys!
