So you thought that a laugh is just a temporary feeling of joy? Wrong! Here are a list of the benefits of laughter.

Laughter is infectious. By laughing with people around you, you reduce not only yours, but everyone else’s stress levels as well.

Laughter controls stress causing hormones such as cortisol, epinephrin (also called adrenalin) and dopamine. At the same time, it increases the anti body producing cells in the body, thus, improving the immune system.

Laughter and humour help us get perspective on a situation. With the decrease in stress, one is able to view the matter at hand in a pragmatic way.

Ever felt clean and renewed after a good laugh? Laughter works as an emotional release, that leads to physical release.

Laughter causes distraction from unwanted, negative feelings like anger, guilt and stress.

Laughter works the internal muscles. A belly laugh exercises the diaphragm, abdomen and the shoulders, giving an internal workout.
