The road to fitness is a long and difficult one. Here are a few ways to enhance your training routine.
A US based writer says that he toiled for six years in the gym. He found out that most of his process was flawed. He says, It wasn`t until (I) learnt the right way to train that (I) was able to achieve desirable results from his programme. I figured if I needed six years of (making) mistakes to find success, there had to be thousands of others who were struggling to see positive change(s) as well.
A senior fitness trainer in Mumbai agrees. He says, A member in our gym executes flawless knee-push-ups, but she has been pinned on her knees for as long as we can remember. She`s never progressed to executing a push-up on her toes, or even attempting movements like a clap or a plyometric push-up.
So how does one enhance their exercise routine for better results? One way is to change the training technique. Says the trainer, The apathy towards advancing their training technique usually stems from the desire to maintain the weight that was shed" instead of getting fitter. People often stumble upon a routine, which helps them drop excess kilos, and cling onto it until they`re hit by boredom. But our bodies adapt to movements quickly, and we eventually hit a fitness plateau. This stable state not only keeps people from losing additional kilos, but also keeps them away from the other benefits of exercise.
When in doubt, ask questions. Many trainers say that they often see clients wandering from one piece of equipment to another aimlessly. They say, (They only) hop onto a machine if they decipher how it operated. But they don`t realise that everything starts with the basic knowledge of the way the body works. While personal training comes with a hefty price, trainers are usually willing to share a few insights about training on a member`s request. It`s imperative to talk to them. More often than not, people don`t even know much about the muscles they are working on during an exercise. If you cannot comprehend how your muscles work and which movement addresses which part of your body, how will you craft a chart for yourself? A simple chat with an expert in the field can help you train yourself better.
Trainers say that it is most effective to alter one of the four components of fitness. These are frequency, intensity, time and type. They say, The more you confuse your body, the more likely it is to respond to your programme because variation is the key to fitness. So, trade your long-distance running sessions for cycling, or switch up the intensity and try sprinting instead. It`s tough, but once you make peace with the hard work, it becomes a way of training.
The trainee must focus on form. Trainers say, The trend to lift heavier weights and compromise on the form is dominant among men, for whom the amount of weight racked on the bar is proportional to the boost. Remember that when you execute only a half squat, there is a your entire other half of muscle that`s being left completely untrained. So, while you lift 200 pounds with your stronger half, it is quite likely that its weaker counterpart can barely lift 50. That`s not helping you at all.
