One word that is used commonly these days is Stress. The shocking piece of information is 80% of world population experience stress every day. Stress in the workplace is very common and many experience it. Our neurons replicate their behaviour when we are with a stressed person.
Our body reacts to life experiences, danger etc and that is known as stress. Stress is beneficial for us up to certain levels and it could make us to concentrate, alert, energetic etc. When stress becomes more it leads to many issues in us.
These below mentioned ways show how stress affects each and every system in our body.
Immune system gets affected:
This is one major effect caused by continuous stress in us. The stress hormones weaken our immune system. Hence we lose the ability to respond quickly. As a result of this more time is taken by our body to recover from illness etc.
Affects reproductive system:
It must be noted that in men excessive stress could lead to reproductive issues like erectile dysfunctions etc. Testosterone is produced at higher levels but won’t last. Men lose their sexual desire. In women increase in stress level leads to irregular and painful periods. Finally women lose their sexual desire etc.
Affects muscular system:
When our body is in constant stress then our muscles are also stressed. This could result in headaches plus joint pains, muscular spasms etc in us.
Digestive system is affected:
Studies have shown that under constant stress the movement of food in our body is affected. This could lead to various issues like constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting etc. Liver gets pushed for more sugar breaking down and it could lead to diabetes issues in us when certain limit is crossed.
Cardiovascular system is affected:
In order to supply more oxygen to the cells to keep up with the spiking action more blood is pumped through. More oxygen is needed by our muscles plus for processing our brain cells need more oxygen supply. This results in high BP in us. There are possibilities of getting strokes etc.
Affects respiratory system:
Stress could lead to issues in respiratory system also. Rapid breathing is seen in stressed persons and this is due to the fact that more oxygen rich blood is required to be transported through the body.
Central nervous system gets affected:
It is said that constant stress could affect the central nervous system also. During stress our hypothalamus is alerted to release stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. It must be noted that these hormones work across our body, absorbing more oxygen to blood, transporting etc. Once stress is removed then hypothalamus must send messages through the body to bring it back once again to normal. Ability of organs gets hampered under stress.
