The month of November ended on an extremely rainy note for Tamil Nadu including Chennai. However, December has failed to record any rains, so far.

The well-marked low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea continues to sustain its strength. In wake of this, heavy rains to extremely heavy rains have lashed southern parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Bengaluru is witnessing dry weather from the last 48 hours. Though December began on a rainy note for the capital of Karnataka when some rains showed upon the city.

The southern districts of Tamil Nadu has borne the brunt of the damages caused by the cyclone Okchi. Kanyakumari district, especially, has been most severely affected and has been cut off like an island.

Very severe Cyclone Ockhi is moving in a north northwest direction since last 12 hours. At present, the system is 14.5 N and Longitude 16.5 E about 590 km NNW of Amini Divi, 690 km SSW of Mumbai and 870 km SSW of Surat.

The low pressure in the Bay of Bengal will become a Depression by tomorrow and Deep Depression subsequently and a possible Cyclone too in open waters.
