S Balachandar, Director of Chennai Meteorological Department has mentioned, A cyclonic circulation above mean sea level is lying over the southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the equatorial Indian Ocean, off the south Sri Lanka coast.

Chennai Meteorological Centre official Mr, Balachandran informed that due to the prevalent thermal convection, it has been raining in a few places in Tamil Nadu.

The hottest season of the summer is called Agni Natchathiram. This began on 4th May. At this juncture rainfall occurred at a few places over interior Tamil Nadu and isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Tamil Nadu.

Thunder showers are likely to occur over southern and interior parts of Tamil Nadu over the next couple of days. However, the forecast says that Chennai will not receive any rain.
