Just a couple of days back, few students and teachers tested positive for Covid-19 infection and this took many by surprise. It is known that the schools for the students of classes 9 to 12 have reopened now in Tamil Nadu.
According to the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian, there was no need to panic and random samples would be collected for testing from the schools in TN if cases are reported. He explained that if any symptoms were noticed then the school authorities would screen the students for Covid1-9 infection. As soon as the Centre gives its approval regarding vaccinating those below 18 years of age the Tamil Nadu government would start vaccinating the school students.
Information gathered is that approval from the Center has been awaited now and TN would become the first state to begin vaccination for those under 18 years of age. It was brought out by some senior officials belonging to DPH that no major cluster has been identified till now amongst students and teachers. From those areas that witness an increase in the cases, samples are being collected now.
There would be 100% vaccination in the 9 districts bordering Kerala state in the upcoming 10,000 vaccination camps on 12th of September. These camps would be supervised by the health minister directly. The health minister then spoke about the need for double vaccination certificates for those coming from Kerala or RT-PCR report 72 hours before travel. It is revealed that action has been taken against the private hospitals for overcharging Covid- 19 patients.
