The Omicron variant of Coronavirus has been sending shivers down the spine now in the last few days. The reason for that was due to its speed with which it could spread rapidly from one person to another. In this scenario, speculations have been going on regarding shutting down of schools in Chennai and in Tamil Nadu to safeguard the students and teachers etc.

The school education minister Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has now put a full stop to these speculations. He had mentioned that there are no plans as of now for shutting down the schools in the state.  The minister made his presence felt in Thanjavur yesterday and he inspected many flood affected places there.

He spoke about how there was some wrong information doing rounds in the social media about closure of schools in TN due to rapid spread of Omicron variant of Coronavirus. He requested not to spread wrong information on social media. He revealed that the TN government has no such plans to close down the schools. It must be taken into account that any decision about lockdown or closure of schools would be taken by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu after a series of discussions with other ministers. The opinions of officials belonging to the health department and experts belonging to various disciplines etc would also be taken into consideration. The official announcement from the chief minister must be followed.

For the successful launch of the programme ‘Illam Thedi Kalvi’, the volunteers are ready in Tamil Nadu. The programme was delayed due in 12 districts belonging to TN due to heavy rains and once the rains go the programme would take place in full flow. The school education minister had earlier visited flood affected areas like Amapettai and Papanasam in Thanjavur district. In these areas, welfare assistance was distributed to the public.
