Do men have breasts? Shocked by this question?

In some men, one or both breasts starts to grow abnormally because of hormonal imbalance. This is known as male breast enlargement or Gynecomastia. It is worth noting that gynecomastia condition would be due to imbalance in oestrogen and progesterone hormones and it could develop during puberty or during adulthood. There are certain factors like medications, lifestyle choices etc that are responsible for men to develop breasts.

Information gathered is that this chest issue would develop due to contributions from 3 major components such as glandular tissue, adipose tissue and skin. Bitter fact is that men with breasts are not accepted by society and they face humiliation from others. As a result, men with breasts would avoid activities like swimming, staying in hostels.

Various symptoms of gynecomastia are pain, swollen breast tissue, tender and sensitive breasts. Though this condition is not a serious one, it is essential to go to a doctor if there is swelling, pain or tenderness, fluid coming out, presence of hard lump etc.

Treatment for gynecomastia condition:

Liposuction process:
In this process, excess fat is removed by making an incision in the armpits or axilla by means of cannula. It is learnt that power assisted liposuction or PAL, ultrasonic assisted lipolysis or UAL would be both safe as well as efficient.

Gland excision:
Here, by means of an incision made at areola`s border, glandular tissue is removed.  It must be taken into account that for milder cases, this procedure is done with local anaesthesia and for severe cases general anaesthesia is used.

Recovery process:
It is noteworthy that male breast reduction surgery that would combine both liposuction and gland excision would be very effective to treat gynecomastia issues in men. The doctor would apply dressings and bandages etc after the surgical process. Point to be noted is that an elastic bandage would be used to minimise the swellings and to support new chest contour. For the blood/fluid to drain out, a small thin tube might be placed under the skin.
